Police Name Three Suspects in a Robbery Case That Happened in Pecos NM.
WASHINGTON D.C. - New Mexico State police officers have identified the three suspects who are believed to have taken part in the robbery and carjacking this past Friday. The Police caught and talked to one suspect, Mariano Francisco Araica-Avalos, near the crime scene on Friday. The police will be charging him with aggravated fleeing from the law, theft of a credit card and two counts of using the credit card that wasn't his. Francisco is currently in the San Miguel County Detention Center in Las Vegas, NM.
The state police officer are asking for any information regarding the other two suspects, Tranquillo Louis Valencia, and Terra Silvia, who both have ties to the Ranchos de Taos area.
Police say the three are suspected of robbing a man at gunpoint near an ATM near the Family Dollar store in Pecos around 8 a.m. Friday. Following these actions, Valencia and Silvia are suspected of stealing a blue 2011 Honda Civic.
Police have an active warrant for Valencia’s arrest for a few different crimes including; two counts of armed robbery, receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated assault, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, larceny, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of a firearm.
Back in January the Taos police arrested Araica-Avalos for intentional abuse of a child when his daughter died and an autopsy revealed that she died of bodily trauma, muscular neck hemorrhage, and a fractured skull. This happen back in March of 2016 and Araica claimed she fell out of her bed. He got out of jail on a 100,000 bond.
Valencia has a stretching arrest record back to at least 2006 and this is all around the Taos area. Last month he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting the officers. In 2014, he was charged with criminal damage to property, but the case was dismissed. In 2013, he pleaded guilty-no contest to committing battery upon a peace officer. There were some other charges of battery and burglary but those cases were either dismissed or ended in acquittal.
