WASHINGTON D.C. - For the past two weeks the Senate was mostly concerned with the healthcare bill proposed by Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy. The bill seemed to get a lot of traction when it was first introduced, but ultimately was another failed attempt at repeal and replace.
There were opponents to the bill on both sides of the Senate. Most notably in the Republican Senator John McCain. John McCain has not been subtle that he didn't like the bill. With him are many other Republicans from really red states.
President Trump hasn't been quiet about his disappointment about the bill not being passed, nor is he apologetic.
After this bill most congressional Democrats want to work on fixing the current system rather than getting rid of it entirely. Most of the Dems say they would support a fix if one that they feel would help the country gets pushed through.
The healthcare debate is far from over, and probably won’t have a definite conclusion for perhaps in this lifetime. One thing that is certain is that both sides will continue to push their ideas through and some will make it and some won’t.
